So, that’s one method for changing the colors of the gradient. For example, I’ll click on the gradient “start” with my gradient tool (red arrow in the above image), then left-click on the color red in the color palette (blue arrow). The easy way is to click on either gradient handle, known as the “start” for the first handle or “end” for the last handle you drew, then left-click on a color in the Inkscape color palette. Fret not – there are a couple ways to change the colors of your gradient. If you’re like me, you may not have the colors you want set for your gradient at present (or you may not have any colors and your text disappeared). So feel free to play around with the location of these points to get a different result. The starting and ending points can go outside your text – the gradient will still only draw inside your text. To draw a gradient inside your text, click and drag your mouse from the top of the text to the bottom (green arrow – note: if you hold the ctrl key, it will draw your gradient in straight-line mode). Next, click on the Gradient tool in the toolbox (red arrow in the above image). Then, type your text (I went with “INKSCAPE” for my text – red arrow in the above image). When you’re ready, click on your canvas with the text tool to create a line of text. I’ll also change my font size (red arrow in the above image) to 144 pts (green arrow) so that it’s nice and large when we first add our text. Next, change your font to the desired font by clicking the dropdown (red arrow in the above image) and selecting the font name (green arrow in the image above – you can also simply start typing your font name in the text field if you know your font name already). In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to fill your text with a gradient using Inkscape, the free vector graphics editor! This is a very simple technique that only requires a couple steps, so let’s dive in!įor starters, grab the Text tool from the Inkscape toolbox by clicking on its icon (red arrow in the image above) or hitting the “T” shortcut key on your keyboard. At least 53 Texas workers died from heat-related illnesses between 20, according to a 2021 investigation by NPR, The Texas Newsroom, The California Newsroom, Public Health Watch and Columbia Journalism Investigations. Surveys of Dallas construction workers before the city's ordinance was adopted found that 33% said they didn't receive rest breaks and 66% said they didn't receive water. "We know that workers do pass out and experience heat stress and different types of heat illnesses," said Daniela Hernandez, state legislative coordinator for the Workers Defense Action Fund, a Texas-based advocacy group that pushed for the rest-break ordinances. Dustin Burrows, the Republican from Lubbock who authored HB 2127, said in a press release that the law is needed to end "the current hodgepodge of onerous and burdensome regulations." But for construction workers in two of the state's fastest-growing cities, advocates say, it poses serious health risks. "It's changed my life," he said, "but I've had to learn to deal with it. He spent several years in physical therapy but said he still has to be careful, especially in the heat. While doctors recommended that he stay home to recover, Ontiveros said it wasn't financially possible. "Aside from the physical and emotional trauma of recovering from an illness exacerbated by extreme heat, I was out seven days of work, with no help from work to pay my medical bills." "The other workers called paramedics and I was rushed to the hospital, where I spent seven days battling tendonitis," Ontiveros, 61, said. Three years before that Ontiveros lost feeling in his arm after painting high school stadium stairs for more than 10 hours in 112-degree heat, he told Public Health Watch through a translator. Suffering from heat with no way to take time offĭallas implemented its rest-break ordinance in 2015. It also overturns local rules such as ordinances in Austin and Dallas that mandate rest breaks for construction workers. Greg Abbott signed HB 2127 - the Texas Regulatory Consistency Act - which bars cities and counties from passing regulations that are stricter than state ones. But this is the last summer he'll get to claim it. Because he works in Dallas, a local ordinance gives him the right to at least a 10-minute rest break every four hours. "It progressed so quickly into heat stroke that, between the time he called 911 and the time that the paramedics arrived on scene, he was fully unconscious and his core temperature was over 106," Stedman said.Ĭonstruction worker Mario Ontiveros risks the same outcome. Among them: A middle-aged man, working outdoors, who called for help after experiencing signs of heat exhaustion. The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Service has responded to 410 heat-related incidents just since June 1, according to a spokesperson, Capt. From July 9 to 19, the state capital saw an unprecedented, 11-day streak of temperatures reaching 105 degrees or more. Greg Abbott signed a bill that overturns local ordinances in some Texas cities that mandate regular rest breaks for such workers.Ī week after construction workers in Austin, Texas, learned they were about to lose their right to rest breaks, the city reached a record-high heat index of 118 degrees. Austin, Texas, construction workers dig on a hot day in August 2021. It may be worth investing in a few extra bolts or locks to deter unwanted, overnight visitors. The overall dimensions of the unit are 64” long x 38” wide x 44.5” high. They also protect the legs from rotting over time. The feet allow you to easily level the hut. The coop comes with a set of adjustable height, plastic feet which attach to the short, pine legs. There are access doors front and rear, and an easy to clean, metal droppings tray. The partitions and roosting bars are easily adjusted to suit your own birds. With its pitched roof and side-mounted laying boxes this looks just like the stylish coop that you would design and scratch-build yourself if only you had the time!Īfter assembly, the laying boxes are partitioned to house three chickens on each side. Handsome, free standing coop with adaptable living space … Go here to check out pictures of the run and living space. Overall:Īn authentic looking, freewheeling coop that can be managed by one person. It comes with a moderate level of predator security, which is easy (and cheap) to improve. This model is easy to access and clean, with a good quality droppings tray. The extra ventilation is great in a warm climate, but that vent will allow wind and rain to enter the coop in bad weather conditions. There’s a large, wired air vent above the nest box that gives us a little concern. In traditional style, there’s a laying box on the side of the living area with a prop-up lid. The overall dimensions of the unit are approximately 97” long x 38” wide x 46” high. Once assembled, you’ve got a nice looking coop that will house about four big, happy chickens. If you’re new to self-assembly it’s worth doing some up-front preparation to identify and label the various parts in this kit. This Pawhut model is definitely worth considering if you like the ‘farmyard’ look of a freewheeling hen-house. Check the images and specifications here to see if it will work in your garden.Īn airy coop with an authentic ‘farmyard’ look … Overall:Ī smart looking coop for a couple of hens, with easy cleaning and great ventilation. This coop will be fine in an area with a warm or mild climate, but it would probably benefit from extra weather proofing in cooler, wetter areas. The side-mounted laying area also opens up for easy access. There’s a pull-out droppings tray for easy cleaning, and the living area roof can be propped open for access or ventilation. The overall dimensions are 75” long x 32” deep x 41” high. Weighing in at around 60 pounds, it’s quite a hassle to regularly move the whole unit. The living area is raised off the ground which is great, but this model isn’t mounted on wheels. This model will house two fully-grown chickens comfortably, but the meshed run that comes with the unit doesn’t give the ladies much room to roam. Pawhut offer a range of self-assembly chicken coop styles at reasonable prices. A cosy, easy to clean hen-house for two … Linear(time, inPoint, inPoint + tSecs, 0, 100) - linear(time, outPoint - tSecs, outPoint, 0, 100) TSecs = transition / ( 1 / ameDuration) // convert to seconds Autofade: Add to opacity transition = 20 // transition time in frames If there are no markers, the transition variable is used (where is says “transition=20″, this is in frames.) If there are *2* markers, the first marker is used for end point of the fade in, and the second marker is used to define the start of the fade out. This is a slightly enhanced version that I’d revamped since I posted it in the “Auto Slideshow” presets and added the option to use markers. But, I like a simpler version that I use on Opacity. You’ll also find something similar in the After Effects preset “Behaviors” called Fade In + Out, which uses the Solid Composite effect and a custom interface. This is nothing brilliant, but it is something I wrote and use all the time. Value + v*amp*Math.sin(freq*t*2*Math.PI)/Math.exp(decay*t) V = velocityAtTime(key(n).time - ameDuration/10) The “decay” is like a friction or mass setting, a higher value means a shorter decay over time. The variable “freq” is the frequency, or how frequently the bounce occurs. Modify “amp” for the amplitude or how much bounce is present. Nonetheless, it’s a great helper and I use it all the time. Although I’ve made a slight modification to it to make it a little more user friendly, it’s nothing that I will lay claim to as my own code. The seeds were certainly planted by the great Dan Ebberts, and then a modified version was posted on. It’s very cool! This expression is a bit of a community effort. This also accounts for scalar or array values, so you’ll find that this expression works just as well on 2D rotation as it does on 3D position. Being that true “velocity” includes the vector (or traveling direction in 3D space), the bounce happens in whatever direction the object is traveling. Intertial Bounce v1.2Įssentially, Inertial Bounce creates a bouncing motion of any parameter from one keyframe to the next, based on its velocity. These are expressions I use in just about every project, and I consider them to be incredible workflow enhancements.ĭownload the AE Presets 1. Therefore, I’d like to share with you my 5 favorite expressions. I realize that expressions can be daunting, and some would rather copy and past useful code rather than learn the language. The rolling (top) wheel is flat in cross section, while the anvil (bottom) wheel is domed. Although larger machines exist, the rolling wheel is usually 8 cm (3 in) wide or less, and usually 25 cm (10 in) in diameter, or less. (Some references refer to the wheels by their position: upper wheel and lower wheel.) The anvil wheel usually has a smaller radius than the rolling wheel. The wheel on the top is called the rolling wheel, while the wheel on the bottom is called the anvil wheel. At the ends of the C, there are two wheels. The machine is shaped like a large, closed letter "C". The English wheel model shown is manually operated, but when used on thicker sheet metals such as for ship hulls the machine may be powered and much larger than the one shown here. This cost is defrayed across a larger production run, but a stamping press is limited to only one model of panel per set of dies. Where high-volume production runs of panels are required, the wheel is replaced by a stamping press that has a much higher capital setup cost and longer development time than using an English wheel, but each panel in the production run can be produced in a matter of seconds. English wheel production is at its highest in low-volume sports car production, particularly when more easily formed aluminium alloy is used. It is used wherever low volumes of compound curved panels are required typically in coachbuilding, car restoration, spaceframe chassis racing cars that meet regulations that require sheetmetal panels resembling mass production vehicles ( NASCAR), car prototypes and aircraft skin components. It is a forming machine that works by surface stretching and is related in action to panel beating processes. Panels produced this way are expensive, due to the highly skilled and labour-intensive production method, but it has the key advantage that it can flexibly produce different panels using the same machine. The process of using an English wheel is known as wheeling. The English wheel, in Britain also known as a wheeling machine, is a metalworking tool that enables a craftsperson to form compound (double curvature) curves from flat sheets of metal such as aluminium or steel.
